i have just got iphone 6 , i am thinking to return it

As soon as rumors started popping up that Apple was going to make a 5.5-inch iPhone, I knew I was going to buy it. I had been using a Galaxy Note II, which has a 5.5-inch screen, at home as a mini-tablet, and I thought it was great. I prefer iOS, so I was happy Apple was going to jump into the phablet market.
Sure enough, on the day the phone was available for preorder, I woke up and ordered the iPhone 6 Plus.

It arrived Wednesday, and my initial impression — 30 minutes in — was positive. The big screen is flat-out gorgeous. It's thin, and the device looks good.
But, after ~12 hours with it, I have more mixed emotions. I am now wondering if this phone is too big for me and my day-to-day usage. I am wondering if in a week I'll be at the Apple Store, returning the phone.
What's the problem? I had no idea how important one-handed usage is with a smartphone until it was basically taken away from me with the iPhone 6 Plus.

I am 6-foot-1, and I think I have the hands that correspond with that size. I use medium-size grips on my golf clubs, if that helps add perspective. To be precise: It's not as if I have freak baby hands.
Wednesday, while I was setting up my phone, I was eating dinner — sausage sandwiches with potato chips, because I like to eat healthy. As a result, I did the whole thing one-handed. That wasn't too bad, but I did start to feel like my left hand was getting disjointed trying to bend my thumb around to hit various buttons.
But that was an exception, right? Setting up the phone is a one-time thing. What about normal usage?
Well, I was sitting on my couch watching TV, and it turns out I use my phone with just one hand a lot! More than I ever realized. And I felt as if I had to pop my thumb out of its joint to move around the phone.
Here's the best analogy I can think of for describing the new sort of motions needed to navigate this big phone: Have you ever tried to move around on the ground without using your arms? You end up shuffling using your butt.
Likewise, when trying to move your hand around the 6 Plus, you use your palm to move the phone, and slide your fingers from side to side.

Soldier Knows Best The gloriously small iPhone 5S.
My iPhone 5S was sitting next to me on the couch, and I started picking it up. I had a newfound appreciation for how small and easily used it is. I could zip around the screen, no problem. And it's not that small, really. I could see what I needed to see. The screen on the iPhone 6 Plus is beautiful and big, but it doesn't feel like that much of an improvement, at least, not right now.
When my wife came home, I showed her the iPhone 6 Plus. She hated it. She treated it as if it were covered in disease, immediately handing it back to me. I took it, tried to shuffle it in my hand to unlock, and I dropped it on the floor. Happily, nothing happened to it. But, I am now hyper aware of how easy it is to drop the thing.
The one-handed thing came up again when I was getting ready to go to sleep. I'm one of those pathetic losers who can't do anything without looking at his phone. So, when I brush my teeth, I like to check Twitter. And I could do that with the 6 Plus, but it was slightly uncomfortable.
Thursday morning, walking to the train, I wanted to whip out my phone to see if I was running late. But there is no whipping out of the iPhone 6 Plus. There is only careful removal, because the risk of dropping it is real.

The iPhone 6 Plus fits fine in my front pockets. It pokes out the top of the back a little.

Other things about the 6 Plus that I find odd:
Apple moved the power button to the side, but it's too high on the side.  I still have to slink my hands into position to hit it. In Safari, if I want to open a new page or a new tab, I have to slide my thumb all the way across the phone. The reachability mode from Apple is not all that useful. Apple has this new thing where you double tap the home button and the screen slides down. 1) It's hard to get my thumb to the home button. 2) I don't even know how this helps.
To be clear, I am not returning it — at least not yet. I'm going to be giving the phone a week before making up my mind.
The problem for me, and perhaps for anyone who buys the 6 Plus, is more mental than physical. In my head, this is an "iPhone," and so I expect it to behave like an iPhone. But in reality, it's something totally different.
If Apple named this the iPad Nano, I would probably have no complaints. I would just think of it like I think of the iPad Mini. I don't complain about one-handed usage with an iPad Mini because I don't expect it.
It's a new category of device, and so I will have to use it in new ways.
The question, which I will be revisiting in a week, is whether I figure out a new way to use the phone. And whether it's worth whatever compromises I have to make in using the phone in a new way.
The big screen is gorgeous, but after 12 hours with it, I'm not sure it's worth the trade-off of a truly easy-to-use little mobile phone.

WHO advocates salt reduction to prevent heart disease

New Delhi: The World Health Organisation (WHO) Sunday advocated salt reduction to prevent and control non-communicable diseases as high salt intake increases the risk of high blood pressure and is associated with heart disease and stroke.
"The WHO recommends a daily salt intake of less than five grams per adult or just under a teaspoon. The recommendation is even lower for children, depending on their energy needs," Poonam Khetrapal Singh, WHO regional director for South-East Asia said in a message on the occasion of World Heart Day.
High salt intake increases the risk of high blood pressure and is associated with heart disease, stroke and other diseases. An estimated 2.5 million deaths could be prevented each year if global salt consumption were reduced to the recommended level, she said.
Singh added that reducing salt consumption is a cost-effective public health intervention and needs a multi-pronged and multi-sectoral approach in which everyone has to contribute.
Governments have a critical role to play and must create awareness and develop policies that enable populations to consume adequate quantities of safe and healthy diet, with low salt content, she added.
The food industry needs to be engaged to reduce salt content and provide healthy food options by reformulating processed foods to reduced salt options, said Singh.
Simple household-level interventions such as adding less salt to food while cooking, removing the salt dispenser from the dining table, limiting the availability of high salt ready-to-eat food, increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables and guiding children's taste buds through a diet of mostly unprocessed foods without adding salt would go a long way in improving the health of people, she added.

Mr Naidu stressed  on the need for decentralisation of development and added that the development programmes would be linked to four districts of Rayalaseema. Work will start at the foundation level in the new capital, he said.

APSRTC mulls building multi-purpose commercial bus terminals

HYDERABAD: In an attempt to make APSRTC commercially viable, the Andhra Pradesh government is mulling developing major bus terminals in Vishakapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati, Kurnool etc into multi-purpose commercial complexes. Similarly, the government has initiated steps to prevent private bus operators from increasing fares exorbitantly during festival seasons.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, transport, roads and buildings minister Sidda Raghava Rao said the commercial complexes would be set up under the build, operate and transfer (BOT) model. 'Our idea is to have a multi-layered bus station in the basement and a super structure with malls and restaurants and other commercial enterprises on the floors above," the minister said.

Speaking of the achievements of the Chandrababu Naidu government during the past 100 days, he said the debt burden on the RTC was on the rise and that at present, it stood at Rs 2,300 crore. "Still, we do not have any proposal to hike the bus fare," he said, adding that the exploitative attitude of the private operators would be curbed. He said the government had received complaints about how the private operators are hiking fares many folds during festive seasons to exploit the rush. A meeting with private operators is on the cards to straighten out the issue, the minister added.

Speaking about safety of state roads, Rao said the government has set a target of making all the roads in the state bump-free. The 'demo-corridor' between Renigunta in Chittoor district and Rayalacheruvu in Anantapur district would be completed by June 2015, he added. "The demo-corridor project, taken up with financial assistance from the World Bank, intends to integrate many departments such as roads, transport, legal, medical and police to make the roads safer. The project will take care of accident precautions and post-accident management to minimize deaths on the roads," he said. The project, he said, envisages two trauma centres located at accessible places along with effective patrolling on the roads by personnel of the transport and police departments.

Rao also said the RTC was planning to acquire about 2,100 buses to meet the demand at various areas in the state. "On its own, RTC wants to purchase 1,100 buses and take on lease 500 private buses. Another 500 buses are expected to be added to the fleet under JNNURM," the minister said.

Guntur Misses Metro Rail

Guntur: The people of Guntur city are disappointed over the exclusion of their city from the metro rail project. Metro principal adviser E. Sridharan, after conducting a survey with his team, has said that first and second phase metro rail project would be constructed in Vijayawada and there is no need for metro rail in Guntur city. Nearly one lakh people per day travel to Vijayawada from Guntur and adjacent areas and people hoped for better and swift transportation facility with metro rail but their hopes are shattered with the new decision.
A total of 33 trains pass through the Guntur railway station per day in which seven are Memu and local trains. Guntur has two railway stations namely Guntur and New Guntur in the city and Nallapadu and Perecharla on the outskirts. The railway distance is only 35 km between Guntur and Vijayawada having broad-gauge track connecting Krishna Canal, Mangalagiri, Namburu and Pedakakani railway stations.
Students of Acharya Nagarjuna University, V. Prahlad, D. Bipin, K. Nagesh and others said that they used to travel in passenger trains to reach the university and hoped for better and swift transportation by metro rail, but in vain. They said that nearly 20,000 students per day go to the university from Guntur and Vijayawada and metro rail would be very helpful for them.
They said that the metro rail project is possible from Vijayawada to Guntur due to passengers rush but metro officials neglected the ground-level realities. They added that ministers and people’s representatives should pressurise the state government for metro rail to Guntur which would soon switch into one of the twin cities of the new capital.
There are no city buses in the Guntur city up to 35 km radius. Hence, metro rail would be very useful to the public, said P. Krishnamohan of the City Development For-um. He said that one has to spend Rs 32 to Rs 42 for the bus travel to go to Vijayawada but train fare is only Rs 10 for local train. Hence, metro rail should be extended to Guntur city. Retired railway engineer M. Subba Rao said that metro rail is very useful to the public due to unavailability of buses and trains after 10 pm from Guntur.
Earlier, officials had proposed Vijayawada-Yedlapadu corridor covering Mang-alagiri, Guntur and another Vijayawada-Tenali corridor covering Mangalagiri and Guntur which are very useful for the public.

Rain plays havoc in Guntur

People trying to cross the Amaravathi-Tadikonda Road, while flood waters in Peekalavagu flows over the causeway on the road snapping communication in Guntur district on Friday.

Five persons were killed in separate incidents since Thursday morning as heavy rains continued to batter the district. People living in low lying areas heaved a sigh of relief as the floodwaters receded in most areas. Road link to Amaravathi remained cut off as floodwaters inundated several low lying causeways on the Guntur-Amaravathi Road.
Joint Collector Vivek Yadav said two persons -- Mulpuri Srinivasa Rao (35) and Velagala Seethamahalakshmi (55) -- died in separate incidents while the identity of a woman who was washed away at Lam village was yet to be established. Srinivasa Rao, who hailed from Ravela village in Tadikonda mandal, drowned in the Yarra Vagu in Kantheru village while Seethamahalakshmi died of electrocution at Atchampet.
Two persons were feared washed away in a swollen rivulet after being hit by a sports utility vehicle at Ameensahebpalem on Narsaraopet-Chilakaluripet road today. The two were identified as K. Harikrishna and Thota Venkateswarlu, working at Krishnaveni Engineering College at Kesanupalli near Narsaraopet.
The duo was heading home when they were hit by a SUV. They lost control and fell into the Kuppaganji drain which has been in spate owing to heavy rains for the last 48 hours.
Mr. Yadav directed the tehsildars to immediately send proposals for payment of ex gratia under Apadh Bandhu scheme.
He also instructed the revenue and police teams to be on high alert and put up warning boards at all low level causeways in the district. Reviewing the flood situation in Guntur, Mr. Yadav asked the Guntur Municipal Corporation to remove the silt at Saibaba temple on Etukuru Road abutting the national highway to allow free flow of water. He also directed the revenue personnel to flush out excess water at ST habitation in Prathipadu. The JC asked the revenue and police teams to evacuate people living on Ratnala Cheruvu Katta in Mangalagiri.

Land Prices Reach High in Guntur

GUNTUR: Land prices in Brodipeta and Arundalpeta areas of Guntur city now range between Rs 1.05 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per square yard in the two regions, beating even those at prime localities in the metropolis of Hyderabad.

Following the announcement of the capital, a similar pricing situation prevails in Nuzvid and in and around Vijayawada. All kinds of shops and star hotels are situated in these two regions. Offices of Telugu Desam and YSR Congress are also in Arundalpeta, while several multiplexes and movie theatres are in Brodipeta.

A developer, K. Kishore said that there is no vacant land in the two regions. Guntur is topping the land rate chart because people assume that there will be no land available on the riverbank as the capital will be a riverfront capital. Hence, everyone is eyeing Guntur land.

The Guntur district administration has reported availability of 21,595 acres of lands in Amaravathi, Guntur, Tadepalli, Tadikonda, Tulluru, Vatticherukuru, Yadlapadu, Prattipadu, Phirangipuram, Sattenapalli, Medikonduru, Mangalagiri and Pedakakani mandals.

D. Govindu, manager of S.R. Constructions, however said that this  Guntur will continue to be a favourite among people as it is the nearest to the new capital.

Developers selling plots on unapproved layout:

Stating that some people were selling plots in layouts that lacked approval, VGTM-UDA officials on Wednesday cautioned buyers not to invest in plots in illegal layouts. UDA vice-chairperson P. Usha Kumari said that only 319 layouts had received approval from the UDA.

“Permission for layouts planned in places brought under the UDA’s jurisdiction must also be taken before the plots are sold,” she said, asking buyers to verify the layout approval number and plan with the UDA officials before finalising the purchase.

Bhoomi Siva Reddy, a real estate agent, agreed that some developers were selling plots in layouts that do not have UDA approval. “All ventures do not have approval. But, developers have applied for approval. They will get all the required approvals before handing over the plots,” he said. However, Ms Kumari advised buyers not to believe in such statements.
