National Safety Science Campaign 2018

What is the National Safety Science Campaign (NSSC) 2018?
NSSC stands for National Safety Science Campaign. The 2018 version comes on the heels of four very successful years of conducting the National Safety Science Quiz (NSSQ) across India. This year, we are expanding our footprint and are committed to making Safety Science a common term among children all over the country. NSSC has exciting interactions and contests apart from the quiz.

The National Safety Science Campaign (NSSC) aims to increase awareness among children (between 10 and 18 years) about the science of safety and the behaviors that keep us safe. Participation in NSSC will have a broader impact by influencing peers, families, and society at large, thereby building a community of safety-conscious individuals.

NATIONAL SAFETY SCIENCE QUIZ (NSSQ), 2018
Do you like participating in quizzes? Here's your chance to be part of the NSSQ, a unique contest that seeks to increase, test, and reward your knowledge on safety science and its important aspects. It is open to school students from grades  9 to 12.

POSTER & SLOGAN CONTEST, 2018
Are you a creative person? Do you feel strongly about a safer world? Here's your chance to showcase your artistic and creative writing skills. Participate in the NSSC Poster & Slogan Contest — open to students of grades 5 to 8.
Theme: Safer Public Bus Transport

SAFETY CLUBSThe biggest sustained activity planned for the NSSC is the setting up of Safety Clubs in schools across India. These clubs will conduct focused group discussions with students who will eventually compete for Safety Ambassador badges, which will be presented in an awards event. Teachers and students of grades 5 to 8 can be part of these Safety Clubs.

These activities will be closely followed by a team of experts in Underwriters Laboratories and Xpress Minds — the knowledge and outreach partner for NSSC 2018.

A Safety Club Teachers Workshop was conducted on August 18 and 25, 2018, in Bengaluru and Delhi, respectively, for teachers of various schools in the cities. The workshop introduced them to the set up and development of Safety Clubs in schools for the academic year 2018-2019. 48 teachers from 37 schools participated in the training.

Rayagada-Vijayawada train extended to Guntur

The Railways authorities have decided to extend train no. 17244 Rayagada-Vijayawada Express up to Guntur, with effect from Sept. 1.

Train no. 17243 Vijayawada-Rayagada Express will start from Guntur with effect from September 2, according to a statement issued by G. Suneel Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division.

Journey schedule

Train no.17244 will leave Rayagada station at 3.15 p.m. and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 7.55 p.m. and depart at 8.15 p.m to reach Vijayawada at 4.15 a.m. on the next day. It will start leave at 4.25 a.m. to reach Mangalagiri at 5.10 a.m., leave at 05.12 a.m. to reach Guntur at 5.55 a.m.

In the return journey, 17243 Guntur-Vijayawada-Rayagada Express will leave Guntur at 10.15 p.m. and reach Managalagiri at 10.42 p.m. and leave at 10.43 p.m. It will reach Vijayawada at 11.15 p.m. and leave at 11.30 p.m. to arrive in Visakhapatnam at 8.05 a.m. the next day and leave at 9.10 a.m. to reach Rayagada at 2.25 p.m.

There is no change in the existing composition or stoppages of the train.
