CBN introduced the ‘Deepam’ scheme in 1999 to alleviate hardships and reduce health hazards for women due to use of earthen stoves.
The last 10 years of Congress’ rule saw gross neglect of this scheme. With the TDP coming back to power, the scheme is all set to be revived.
Government is getting ready to approve 5 lakh gas connections under the ‘Deepam’ Scheme.
To offer a subsidy of Rs. 1600 per connection, the State Government has allocated Rs. 80.54 Crore in the 2014-15 budget.
