Eating right could help students overcome examination stress, according to experts of National Health Mission (NHM)-supported adolescent reproductive and sexual health (ARSH) helpline. The helpline offers free counselling to students appearing for their board examinations and for their parents, to educate them on the need for proper nutrition in times of stress. Midnight hunger or skipping meals altogether is increasingly becoming common with teenagers during examination season, said psychologist and ARSH counsellor Dr Preeti Mathur. Often teens feel the pressing need to wake up at night and eat whatever they find in the kitchen. The problem becomes more acute during exam days when they have to stay up late to study and it is associated with atypical depression, she added.
