Guntur: The pending issue of introduction of city bus services in Guntur city by APSRTC is to be resolved soon as arrangements are being expedited in view of the new capital in Guntur district. A city bus depot will be started on five acres of land in Pedakakani adjacent to Guntur to park 60 buses sanctioned under JNNURM. The new capital Tullur is 36 kms to 45 kms on various routes. Hence, the APSRTC is planning to start services to the new capital.

Hyderabad: Shamshabad airport authorities are in a spot. The Centre’s order to name the ‘domestic terminal’ of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after N.T. Rama Rao has left airport officials nonplussed. A senior official from GMR Ltd. which operates the airport, said: “We are a little confused on how to implement the orders. The airport is integrated and it has no separate terminals. Despite being part of the much-touted capital region of Andhra Pradesh, Guntur is still waiting for APSRTC's city services. The lack of state transport facility has irked denizens, who point out that smaller towns such as Ongole will have RTC services up and running from Vijayadasami, following transport minister Sidda Raghava Rao's recent announcement. "The APSRTC management has conveniently ignored the demand for a city bus service in Guntur, but bowed to political pressure and introduced it in Ongole," said P Mastan Rao, a college lecturer. The transport corporation has been plying city services in two big cities of AP - Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam - apart from Hyderabad and Warangal in Telangana. In view of the state bifurcation, the Telugu film industry has officially spilt into two, with the Seemandhra Film Chamber of Commerce being unveiled at Tadepalle in Guntur district recently. This, according to the producers and directors, will help solve the industry issues better. The demand for the renaming of the current chamber as the Telangana one, was also made some months ago. SpiceJet today announced its "Diwali Dhamaka" sale, with one way fares starting as low as Rs 899 (all-inclusive). The fares for the Bangalore-Chennai-Kochi circuit start at Rs 899 while for Bangalore-Goa it is Rs 1,599 and rest of India it is Rs 2,499, the airline said. The tickets for the offer can be booked between October 21 and October 26 for travel between November 1, 2014 to December 15, 2014. The sale applies to all direct flights on SpiceJet's domestic network. National carrier Air India will celebrate on Wednesday its merger with erstwhile Indian Airlines as 'Air India Day', offering tickets for Rs 100 for a limited period. "This is the first time the airline will be celebrating the 'Air India Day'. A function will be held to celebrate the day and also to award meritorious employees of the airline," an official spokesperson said. Air India was amalgamated with erstwhile Indian Airlines into one airline as "Air India" on August 27, 2007. On the occasion, the flag carrier would launch 'Air India Offer'--a scheme offering tickets for Rs 100 apart from all applicable taxes.
