What’s New
The Jetta has found favour with buyers for its unfussy, no-nonsense styling. In its newest avatar, the Jetta is an even more sanitized version of an already established design. A new grille accentuates the car’s width, while the new bumper with redesigned airdam and foglamps add to the sharper look. The profile of the car remains untouched, save for the good-looking twin-5-spoke alloy wheels on the top trim diesel variant. The rear has a ‘son-of-Audi’ stance owing to the new tail lamp design, bumper and bootlid.
Performance, Ride and Handling
The 2015 Jetta continues to be offered with the same engines as the model it replaces. The 1.4TSI petrol engine develops 122PS of power at 5,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,500-4,000rpm with six-speed manual transmission. The 2.0TDI produces of 140PS at 4,200rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1,750-2,500rpm. The diesel Jetta is available with either a six-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission options.
The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta caters to a wide consumer demographic, appealing to families, couples, seniors and enthusiasts alike. It is a practical, spacious and comfortable family sedan and, at the same time, offers plenty of power and dynamics for the enthusiasts. Hopefully, the 1.8 TSI with DSG gearbox would make it to India next year on the MQB platform, making the lineup even more exciting. In short, if you prefer driving a spacious midsize sedan with European breeding and style, this car will be right up your alley.
