GUNTUR: In a relief to the shelterless poor in the district, the state government has decided to build about 42 thousand houses under NTR housing scheme to be launched shortly. While 24 thousand double-bed roomed houses would be constructed in urban areas, remaining 18 thousand would be taken up in rural areas.
Giving the details here at a review meeting held on Thursday, the district collector Kantilal Dande said that officials should pick up the beneficiaries without giving any scope for controversies. He asked the officials to complete the selection of beneficiaries for housing scheme before the commencement of Janmabhoomi-maaooru programme on January 2. He said that the selected beneficiaries lists should be published during the week-long programme of janma bhoomi.
